Haiga is a work of art combined with (usually) haiku. Similar to the juxtaposition of the two parts of a haiku, the art and poetry are supposed to complement one another—but not connect in an explicit way. That is, the art should not be a literal illustration of the poem, and the poem should not merely describe the art.
A friend sent me a photo this morning with a challenge. Here’s what I came up with.
