a field of blue lupines . . .
steeling myself
for the confrontation
thunder then rain . . .
a new British crime show
comes up in our queue
morning traffic . . .
too late to save
the roadside turtle
highway heat . . .
passing cars reanimate
the dead hawk’s feathers
pivoting . . .
an iris in bloom
snapped by the storm
tidy lawn
a kingdom of chipmunks
expands underground
clinking ice cubes
the afternoon chatter
of a house wren
a white iris
we don’t remember planting
morning fog
rain spotting
the sea-worn cobbles . . .
beach peas in bloom
sunlit granite
a falcon disappears
into the cliff face
a bumblebee lingers
amid lingonberry blossoms
. . . lifting fog
