third spring . . .
tiny white violets bloom
amid deer poop
morning Zoom
I turn off the video
to enjoy my coffee
the horse and its driver
stare as they pass
long vaccine line
social distancing
cherry blossom art
online
Zoom haiku meeting
the juxtapositions
of all the faces
masked walk
I mistake my niece’s eyes
for my sister’s
our masked walk
a blue jay calls out
with a hawk’s voice
slow-falling snow
more Covid deaths this week
than last
winter moths
under the porch light
I air-hug my parents
the caterpillar at least
knows where it’s going
pandemic summer
thrum of crickets
who can even think straight
right now
