the last yellow leaves
backyard crows agitating
for action
with the radio on
for company
waning moon
what’s left of the river yellow leaves
full-moon tide
the body of a gull
washes up on the jetty
i start the raking
where my neighbor finished . . .
sun on birch trunks
beaver moon
tufts of cattail fluff
drift along the trail
the river at its lowest crow tracks
wind chill
leaves falling
from a squirrel nest
a squirrel’s silhouette among the dark branches nightfall
a wasp nest
that was there all along
wind rattles fallen leaves
mountain traverse
a foothold cradles
a snake skin
