island morning
a foghorn moaning

lupines . . .

waits for the ferry
a pair of eagles
on the boarded-up keeper’s house
— ground swell
night fog lingering along Basho’s narrow road
ISLAND is here! This is my first full-length and only non-virtual haiku collection, published by Red Moon Press. I’m really proud of this collection of haiku (and a few haibun) inspired by Maine islands—primarily Monhegan—where I’ve spent time. (The cover image is used with permission from the Monhegan Museum of Art & History, where I will be working this summer.) If you’re interested in a copy, you may order directly from me; information on how to do so is available on my Books page. Or you may order it from Red Moon Press, which also offers many other fine haiku collections. It will also be available at the Lupine Gallery on Monhegan Island and Gulf of Maine Books in Brunswick, ME.
nautical twilight
a house on the mainland
the first star
island dawn
a passing ship’s foghorn
reaches my dream
island sunset
the calls of the gulls
intensify
bent birches . . .
a strip of open water
links the lake islands
late winter thaw . . .
mist wreaths the islands
locked in lake ice
