a little snow
on the rotting pumpkin
year’s end
winter blues fading into the light flurries
morning chill . . .
two squirrels spiral down
the old maple
new ice
whispers on the lake . . .
the afterlife
seasonably cold . . .
filling the bird feeders
in my new sweater
aftermath
pond ice holds the patterns
of last night’s gale
stuck in traffic . . .
an unending stream of crows
flies to roost
someone off-key
at the carol sing-along
Orion’s belt
winter solstice
a bluebird calling
across the field
our eyes meeting solstice sunrise
the sunset glow
of snow on the mountain
. . . feeder finches
