waxing cold moon hidden by clouds of my breath
November rain
the passing clouds
of our laughter
cold rain
turkeys huddled in a field
turn out to be vultures
pulling on
a heavier sweater
the white of snowdrops
through socks
the cold of the floor
snow moon
winter solitude . . .
last summer’s hydrangea
tumbleweeds down the street
cold seeping through
the kitchen cupboards
winter deepens
curled up inside
on a sub-zero morning . . .
squirrel drey
deep space
without a hat
morning commute
wind chill
a flock of bluebirds flutters
at a nesthole
slowed by cold dawn crawling the hillside snow
