sun on fresh snow
tracks of those who didn’t wait
for morning
first snow
a long line of cars stuck
behind the salt truck
December rain . . .
a crow caches a scrap
under some leaves
extended vigil . . .
winterberries glow
in morning mist
bleary moon . . .
startled awake by something
running across the roof
new ice . . .
crows follow a mink
along the riverbank
(Alas, seen by my husband, not me)
honking
when the light changes . . .
third day moon
crows find
the discarded pumpkin . . .
lazy snowflakes
cold front . . .
an oak tree getting in
the last word
late afternoon light
what a titmouse gleans
from gutter leaves
needle ice —
the moon and Jupiter
