stubble field
a kestrel’s fanned tail
catches the light
sea-tumbled stones . . .
plovers preening
along the high-tide line
autumn meadowhawk the red of roadside sumacs
cold rain
turkeys huddled in a field
turn out to be vultures
a stream of texts
as he crosses Canada
reddening maples
Safe travels, Alan!
the V of geese
rearranged by a gale
election season
spruce needle rain . . .
old man’s beard lichen
sways in a gust
geese overhead in the dark aurora borealis
wind rustling dead leaves
the chipmunk’s alarm call
goes on forever
shopping for mums
I let a bumblebee
choose the colors
approaching comet —
just a hint of red
in the maple leaves
