ermine tracks . . .
snow on the hillside
reveals a clear cut
ice dams
none of the tracks in our yard
made by humans
morning moonset
out on the ice a sled
heaped with fishing gear
harbor ice . . .
a round of hammering
inside the docked ship
winter willows . . .
hiding the grey
in my hair
the scarred face
of old snow
hunger moon
even then
love in the world
glacial till
wind chill
the mailwoman urges me
to stay indoors
below zero not even a crow
each body
casts its shadow in the snow
mountainside trees
weather map . . .
at the wrong end
of the rainbow
