fogbound
the rumble of a pickup
on a dirt road
taking
the long way back . . .
last of the starflowers
blue flag irises
bend to the water
bend to the waterlilies
lupines . . .
a stack of plastic bins
waits for the ferry
salvaging irises
from the construction site
summer sunset
bracken ferns . . .
a gob of fish flesh glistens
on the riverbank
a pair of eagles
on the boarded-up keeper’s house
— ground swell
whale watch —
a pair of surf scoters
outpaces the boat
tidal currents . . .
a lobster buoy
becomes a seal
harborside dusk
the lingering pink
of lupines
a tiger swallowtail headlong down the trail morning sun
